Desert Color Scheme for PuTTY

Related to my previous post on the Desert Color Scheme for XTerm I also want to put up how to get the desert color scheme into PuTTY for Windows.

  • Open putty and select a saved session or the default settings and click the Load button.
  • Click on the Window->Colours link to the left in the Category tree.
  • Click on each of the titles in the ‘Select a colour to adjust‘ section and you can change their values as noted below.  I have listed in order after each title name the Red, Green, Blue values to enter.  I usually set the Bold version of each of these to be the same values:
Default Foreground: 255,255,255
Default Background: 51,51,51
ANSI Red: 255,160,160
ANSI Green: 189,183,107
ANSI Yellow: 240,230,140
ANSI Blue: 135,206,235
ANSI Magenta: 205,92,92
ANSI Cyan: 152,251,152
  • Go back to the Session link at the top left of the Category navigation and click the name of the session you loaded earlier and then click the Save button.

If everything went well you should see the new colors the next time you load that session:
